Ñandutí, in the indigenous Guaraní language, means "spider web." True to its name, it is a delicate handicraft made with thread. A base thread is stretched, and patterns are created by weaving or knotting other threads onto it. The embroidery is stiffened with adhesive, and once the embroidered section is detached from the fabric, Ñandutí is complete. The texture is quite firm and holds its shape well, while still retaining the softness inherent in the thread.
