Vintage MONET silver-tone chocker / collar necklace signed excellent 1950s Book piece that you could find in two Monet advertisements. The “Diana” necklace was featured in Vogue magazine advertisements from 1954 on the top-model Georgia Hamilton and in 1956 ad on fabulous Suzy Parker. The suggested retail price in the ads: $15 in 1954 and $18.50 in 1956. That is equivalent of about $200 today (considering inflation and actual purchasing power) This beautiful necklace was manufactured in gold and silver-tone versions as it happened with other Monet’s bestsellers. The design is a transition between the smooth chunky machine age link necklaces of the 1940’s and the intricately textured styles of the latter half of the 1950’s and 1960’s. The necklace is in excellent vintage condition: the silver finish is still bright due to the Monet triple plating. US Design Patent 174 735 was filed in 1954 by the Monocraft co-founder Michael Chernow.
