ABOUT ITEM'S ORIGIN (You can SKIP it!) The JUPITER-8 (and later on slightly improved JUPITER-8M) lens is just a copy of the famous Carl Zeiss Sonnar lens. JUPITER-8 is a normal angle (standard) coated lens for Kiev, Contax and Bessa-2RC rangefinder cameras. Most of JUPITER-8 lenses was issued at Contax equipment brought to USSR, to Kiev city after WW2. Some early lenses, include rare BK and ZK types had been produced at the town of Krasnogorsk at KMZ plant, which received Leitz & Zeiss equipment and even some Zeiss optical blocks came to USSR from Germany as reparations. Thus you have a chance to find genuine Zeiss glass inside early Soviet lenses. JUPITER-8M is slightly improved version of JUPITER-8 lens for Kiev cameras. In the main, most all Soviet lenses are exceptionally good and this one is no exception! ITEM'S CONDITION: EXCELLENT+++++ The glass is very clean, without any scratches, separations or fungus, but very minor cleaning marks & pieces of dust inside can be found. Aperture blades open and close smoothly. Cosmetically the lens is in fine condition, just examine item's photos please. All functions are available. TECHNICAL FEATURES * Focus: 5cm (53 mm exactly). * Angle of view: 45 degrees. * Coated optics without Russian red symbol "n" (it sounds like P=prosvetlenije, this symbol was removed since beginning of 1960s, when all Russian optics became coated). * Relative aperture: 1:2.0 * Aperture: from 2.0 up to 22 (with clicks). * Resolution (in pairs of lines per 1 mm): not less than 30 in the center and 14 on the edge of frame. * Mounting: Contax-Kiev type internal bayonet. * Focusing: the lens have no any focusing system inside. It is situated inside internal Contax or Kiev bayonet at the camera. * Adapters: adapters with focusing system for other lens mounts like Leica M39 LTM, Sony NEX etc can be found at eBay or elsewhere, but those adapters can looks expensive.
