In Japanese folklore, the "Rabbit on the Moon" is more than just a legend—it is a reminder that hope for a better tomorrow is possible through kindness, generosity, and selflessness. The rabbit, known for its pure heart, symbolizes the idea that even the smallest acts of compassion can leave a lasting mark. Note : ♡ Hagi is a legume, like peas. Japanese were eating its seeds, and brewing its leaves. Hagi is probably the most present in Japanese poetry during Middle ages. Hagi is very linked with autumn. Note: ♡ The rabbit is a symbol of cleverness and self-devotion, and appears in myths but it is also associated with longevity, fertility, good luck, creativity. Note: ♡ Rabbit in the Japanese legendary. The legend of the Japanese people believes, there was a pair of rabbits on the moon. They are helping grandparents who live on the moon pound the flour to make mochi. One night, the Man on the Moon came down to earth disguised as a beggar. He chanced upon a Fox, a Monkey, and a Rabbit (usagi) and asked for some food. The Fox brought him fish from a stream, and the Monkey brought fruit from the trees, but the Rabbit could only offer grass. So he told the beggar to build a fire, and when it was built, threw himself onto the flames to offer himself to the Man. Amazed by the Rabbit's generosity, the beggar transformed back into the Man on the Moon and pulled the Rabbit from the fire. To honor the Rabbit's kindness, the Man on the Moon carried the Rabbit back to the moon to live with him. Now, if you look at the full moon, you can see the outline of the Rabbit pounding mochi on the moon. Note: Rabbit is the fourth in the 12-year cycle of the Japanese zodiac signs.
