This is a Dutch Friesian Schippertje antique/vintage wall clock. These type of clocks were called Schippertje (means Skipper), because these clocks were used on Dutch boats. This because they were able to keep running as the boat was rocking because of the sea. Later on, the Dutch were fond of this design and bought them to hang them in their house on the wall. These clocks were very popular in the 1960s. This antique wall clock chimes beautifully on both the half-hour and full hour. It is powered by two brass weights, employing a traditional weight-driven mechanism. This is a rare clock has this clock has a gong chime instead of a bell chime.
