Vilia-Auto (Вилия-Авто), scale-focus film camera with stationary Triplet-69-3 lens, 4/40, #8778_969, 35 mm Belorussian Optical Mechanical Unity (BelOMO) Very good condition. Exposure meter works properly. Lens is clear and does not have any scratches or fungus. Inside there can be microspecks of microdust. Frame-counter works properly. Body very has small signs of age. This is the first model from "Vilia" scale-focus cameras family, the others are: "Vilia", "Siluet-Elektro", "Orion-EE". They had the same body and lens, but different way of exposure setting. "Vilia-Auto" has Program AE. Camera was named after the river Vilia which flows in Belorussia and Lithuania. Camera was produced by BelOMO in 1973-85. Totally both "Vilia" and "Vilia-Auto" were produced in approx. 3 mln. pieces. This camera is scale-focused, so you focus the lens using the distance scale (from 0.8 meters till Infinity) on the lens barrel. Viewfinder is used only to estimate the frames of the future image. Viewfinder has inner and outer frames: inner frame is used for 0.8 meters only to compensate parallax. Camera is Program AE. It means that built-in selenium exposure meter (whose window is round the lens) measures the light and sets automatically the pair "Shutter speed - f/meaning". When maximum light is measured pair "1/250-f/16" will be set, when minimum light - "1/30-f/4". These pairs are constant and cannot be changed. On the rear side of the body there is a disc for setting the ISO of the film in range 16-250 which is the only way to influence the algorithm. When taking a picture an arrow from the right side of a viewfinder will show the chosen pair pointing the painted numerals - so you can estimate the accuracy before taking a photo. Aperture meaning can be set manually in range f/4-f/16 on the lens barrel. Shutter speed will be always 1/30 then. Shutter is central, located after the lens, has 2 aperture blades. Shutter is cocked up with lever and released with a large button from the right side of the lens. Built-in lens is "Triplet 69-3", 4/40. Filter thread is 46x0,75. Minimal distance of focusing - 0,8 m. Camera has a hot shoe and flash synchrocontact. On the bottom there is a 1/4" tripod socket and frame counter which throws off when the rear cover is opened. Backwind is with a roulette. Camera was very cheap - 40 or 42 Soviet Roubles (depended on bag type - hard or soft). It is interesting to notice that fully manual "Vilia" cost only 23-25 Soviet Roubles, almost two times cheaper. Average salary was about 120 Soviet Roubles per month.
