The maneki-neko had an idea.
The longer the beckoning paw, the more fortune it should bring.
So the paw kept growing longer and longer.
But it turned out to be terribly inconvenient — bumping into things when entering a friend’s house, hitting things when boarding a train.
Then one day, it realized: “Why not just wrap it up?”
The paw curled around its face, draping like a scarf.
The maneki-neko proudly thought of itself as the ultimate beckoning cat.
But in summer, the skin around its face would get irritated.
