Fordite is an upcycled material. It is also popularly known as Detroit Agate or Motor Agate but these two names are misleading because Fordite is not crystal, and certainly not Agate. The bands on Fordite look like the bands or fortifications in a piece of Agate. That is all.
Fordite is old automobile paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. Fordite was formed from the buildup of layers of enamel paint slag on tracks and skids on which cars were hand spray-painted, which have been baked numerous times. In the automobile industry today, the spraying of cars are all fully automated. Hence, there is very little wastage. Since the source for Fordite pieces has been put to a stop, the prices of Fordite pieces soared as they continue to be much sought-after by people all over the world.
This red theme necklace in sangria tone, features a Dagenham Fordite piece with gorgeous colours and psychedelic patterns. Firstly, Dagenham Fordite pieces are hard to find. Secondly, the mix of colours and patterns on this piece is quite exquisite! The pendant hangs on a necklace made of Red Agate beads. The colour of the Agate beads really compliments the colours of this Fordite piece.
